Until Monday by Maud Newton | October 13th, 2005 Vancouver’s Annie Reid injects some energy into the joint most Fridays. She’ll step in tomorrow with, among other things, more of your favorite short stories. I played hooky from work today because of an impending cold. And since the laptop connection is still all fucked-up, I intended to sit around with the cats and roll pennies to see if the Maud household’s emergency funds — because nothing says portability for a terrorist event like a glass brick full of change — would be enough to cover the cost of a new router. Instead, I started reading Jenny Erpenbeck’s The Old Child & Other Stories while carefully following Annie Reid’s Rx: “Drown a fever in whiskey, suck beers down for a cold.” And what do you know? It worked. (For now, at least. Things may look less rosy tomorrow morning.) That’s all from me this week. Have a good weekend. Since some of you were concerned and/or blinded by yesterday’s counterfeit attempt at good cheer, I would like to state for the record that I’m no fan of unicorns. Comments are closed.
