Tibor Fischer wouldn’t last long in Bangladesh

A Bangladeshi court has issued an injunction against production, distribution, or sale of Ka, the latest book by feminist writer Taslima Nasreen. Syed Shamsul Haque, another author, claimed he was defamed by Nasreen’s novel. The book allegedly depicts Haque taking two women to a guesthouse and “throwing up the next day after getting drunk.”

Nasreen fled Bangladesh in 1994 in response to violent protests from Muslim fundamentalists over Lajja, a book that depicted abuses against the country’s minority Hindu population.
