Speechless

In case you haven’t been paying attention to the revelations about U.S. soldiers’ abuse of Iraqi prisoners, here’s an update: they’re fucking horrifying. And they’re just getting worse. Seymour Hersh told Bill O’Reilly today:

There are videotapes of stuff that you wouldn’t want to mention on national television that was done. There was a lot of problems.

There was a special women’s section. There were young boys in there. There were things done to young boys that were videotaped.

Other reports are surfacing that U.S. military guards arrested an elderly woman last July, put her in a harness and forced her “to crawl on her hands and knees while a guard rode her donkey-style.”

On that note, I’m done until Saturday, when I’ll post excerpts from the responses to my question about the state of fiction today. Thanks to everyone for writing.

Stephany Aulenback takes over tomorrow. Have a good weekend.
