Salinger, more

TMFTML had much the same reaction to Laura Miller’s latest article as I did:

The Book Review … featured Laura Miller doing her patented belaboring of the obvious shtick: this week she suggested that the books kids are forced to read in school aren’t very good.

TMFTML takes Ms. Miller to task for failing to decry The Catcher in the Rye. Given that I have the emotional maturity of a 14-year-old boy, it should come as no surprise that I’m a bit of a sucker for Salinger, myself. Naturally that didn’t stop me from convulsing with laughter and nearly choking to death on a dry linzer cookie as I read TMFTML’s opinion on the matter.

From email: “the amazing story & person of the moment is Saira Shah–The Storyteller’s Daughter–who was the reporter in that amazing documentary Beneath the Veil.” Here’s a review of the book.
