Last week Newsweek reported the planned reissue of Second Lady Lynne Cheney’s novel, Sisters, which features lesbian characters, but Ms. Cheney’s publisher has since announced that the book will not be republished, and her lawyer insists that demand can be met through used bookstores (not quite). Although her daughter is openly gay, Ms. Cheney has declined to comment publicly on the Bush administration’s support for a Constitutional amendment prohibiting gay marriage and has claimed not to remember the plot of the novel.
