Marilynne Robinson

We’ll be hearing a lot about Marilynne Robinson in the weeks to come, I imagine, as her long-awaited second novel Gilead will finally be released in November, according to Amazon. (Long-awaited = twenty-three years.) Also according to Amazon — related searches for “Marilynne Robinson” are “Alice Munro” and “Thisbe Nissen.” Robinson’s first novel, the acclaimed Housekeeping, reminded me very much of Alice Munro’s work. I wouldn’t have thought that Thisbe Nissen‘s readers would be in the same group. That bodes well for her.

There’s an interview with Marilynne Robinson in this week’s New Yorker, as well as a short story.
