Woman’s Day is sponsoring a librarian-for-a-day contest. My friend Christian, a reference librarian in Florida, takes issue with the magazine’s view of a librarian’s duties:
field queries, read to kids during story hour and make book selections???
How about herd homeless guys, scold rambunctious kids (while still making them feel welcome), and watch your collection budget dwindle against the need to buy or rent hundreds of copies of Grisham’s latest rag twice a year.
