Irish author attacks Joyce and the “Joyce industry”

Irish author Roddy Doyle believes James Joyce’s Ulysses is overrated:

“Ulysses could have done with a good editor,” Doyle told a gathering in New York to mark the writer’s birthday.

“People are always putting Ulysses in the top 10 books but I doubt any of those people were really moved by it.”…. Doyle was dismissive of the “Joyce industry”, saying: “They’ll be serving Joyce Happy Meals next.”
