Good news from The Guardian: Mark Haddon’s The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time has won the Whitbread prize for best novel of the year. I just read this book. It’s a deceptively simple page-turner written (very convincingly) from the point of view of a teenager with Asperger’s syndrome. Really funny and heartbreaking and gorgeous. I’ve promised to send it to my mom (she works with autistic adults) but I’ve been dragging my feet. I’ll have to buy her a copy. I don’t think I can part with mine.
